“Fill the Boot” collects donations for the Muscular Dystrophy Association

0923-fill-the-bootJackson County, Ore. — Some Jackson County Firefighters spent the day collecting donations for the Muscular Dystrophy Association for their annual “Fill the Boot” event.

Firefighters with Fire District 3 accepted donations in two locations in Central Point and White City.

Last year they collected over $14,000. They hope to beat that number this year.

District 3 firefighter Chris Harper said, “It’s a great thing, we all love doing it and it’s amazing to see all the support we get from the community and the amount of money we get from it is really good.”

This year, they partnered with the Human Bean. A percentage of sales at the coffee kiosks also went to the Fill the Boot fundraiser Friday.

All the money collected goes to MDA and pays for research and summer camps for kids suffering from the disease.
