
Sutherlin, Ore. – Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies responded Thursday afternoon to a single vehicle crash on Nonpareil Road east of Sutherlin.
DSCO said a 1999 Ford Explorer driven by 31-year-old Sutherlin resident Melissa Routenberg traveled off the roadway after failing to make a corner. The SUV struck a tree and rolled several times.
Deputies said a 5-year-old boy was ejected from the vehicle. He was transported to a local hospital before being flown to Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland. A 9-year-old girl was taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries.
The crash is still under investigation.
