Modesto, Calif. — Flames shooting through tree tops and a home gone in seconds. “It blew up. It sounded like a bomb I guess. It woke up guys three blocks down,” said neighbor Robert Arrendono.
Another next door neighbor captured this video just moments after hearing the earth-shattering boom. “The motorhome just burst into fire and flames,” added Arrendono.
He said there was nothing anyone could do. “We were hoping to see somebody outside, but we never saw anybody.” His fears may have been confirmed. Firefighters found four bodies inside the burned out mobile home.
“They took care of the kids and they seemed like a pretty good family. He walked the kids to the gate for the bus in the morning and waited outside for them to pick up,”
He says the couple was raising their grandchildren here and is heartbroken for their family.
“I haven’t known them for a long time, but we’re neighbors and it’s sad, I mean I have kids myself,” said Arrendono.
Autopsies will be performed Monday. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
