Girl Scout camp gets a second chance thanks to generous donation

Ashland, Ore. — A beloved Girl Scout camp in Southern Oregon is one step closer to a new future after a generous grant from the Oregon Community Foundation.

The Ashland YMCA received $150,000 to put towards redeveloping Camp Low Echo. The former Girl Scout camp came under disrepair in 2012.

Thanks to this grant, and millions in donations from local philanthropists Sid and Karen Deboer, and Jed and Celia Meese, the camp was given another chance.

Lisa Molnar, Executive Director of the Ashland YMCA said, “I think it’s going to provide and amazing opportunity for kids and people of all ages to have those amazing camp experiences that are going to last a lifetime.”

The camp is still a few millions dollars away from it opening goal. For more information or to donate contact the Ashland YMCA.
