Unusual weapon turned in to Klamath Co. Sheriff

Klamath Falls, Ore. — The Klamath County Sheriff says he hasn’t seen anything like it in more than 40 years of law enforcement.

A woman brought an unusual item in to Sheriff Frank Skrah on Thursday. While it looks like a steel pipe, it can actually fire a 12-gauge shotgun shell.

Sheriff Skrah said, “She felt the right place to put it was with law enforcement, so it didn’t fall into the wrong hands and get used against good people, or against police officers.”

Skrah pointed out the gun is not street legal. Possession of a short barreled shotgun is a federal and a state felony.

The woman got the weapon from a friend who has since passed away.
