Horses rescued from overturned trailer

0524 Horse trailer accidentCentral Point, Ore. – The Jackson County Sheriff’s helped rescue two horses after a trailer became detached from a truck on Sunday night.

Deputies said the truck lost control on East Vilas Road near McLoughlin Drive, resulting in the horse trailer becoming detached. The trailer came to rest upside down in a ditch.

The JSCO said two horses were trapped inside the trailer, one on top of the other, making it difficult for them to breathe.

Deputies, firefighters, and citizens all came together to help get the horses out. A log truck used a self-loader to lift the trailer out of the ditch so the horses could be removed. A veterinarian responded to evaluate the horses’ injures.

The driver was not injured in the accident, but was cited for a traffic violation.
