JACO Sheriff’s Office dedicating two deputies to DUII enforcement

With an unusually high number of fatal motor vehicle accidents in 2016, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is dedicating two traffic deputies to focus on DUII enforcement.

This new enforcement started in late September of this year.

The two deputies work in the evening hours since national statistics and their own calls for service show that’s when they are most likely to encounter impaired drivers.

Sergeant James Kocina says they deleted their old traffic team and started with a new way of doing things about a month ago.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, they plan to develop their traffic team further by January.

The new traffic team will have an emphasis on driving under the influence, distracted driving and aggressive driving.

They ask the community to help make the roads safer by calling in any suspected impaired drivers.
