Josephine County Relay For Life

Grants Pass, Ore. — Walkers and joggers put their steps to good use on Saturday to benefit the Josephine County Relay for Life.

The annual event had over 475 participants of all ages that walked to raise money for the fight against cancer, 200 of which were cancer survivors.

As of Saturday afternoon, the organization raised over $50,000. That number will continue to grow as they work towards their goal of $100,000 – but raising money isn’t the only goal for those lacing up their shoes.

“I don’t think there’s one person out there that doesn’t know somebody that’s had cancer. so this is a great way for our community to come together and be able to support each other,” Cindy Humboldt said. This is Humboldt’s first year with the organization, and she believed the effort put in by the community extraordinarily helped the fundraiser.

The event continues until Sunday morning all throughout the night with activities such as scavenger hunts.
