Kidnapped Florida girl found safe

1011-rebecca-lewisMemphis, Tenn. (CNN) — A 4-year-old Florida girl missing since Saturday, and the subject of a multi-state Amber Alert, has been found safe.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says Rebecca Lewis was found inside a car Monday in Memphis.

Authorities said police discovered the girl and the man accused of kidnapping her as they were trying to leave a hospital parking lot. The suspect, 31-year-old West Wild Hogs, surrendered without incident and is now in custody.

The Polk County, Florida Sheriff said Rebecca is being checked out, but appears okay. “We have absolutely no indication that the child has been harmed at this point in the investigation; however there will be thorough and complete investigations. We’ll do medical screenings, psychological screenings, all of that will occur imminently. But we’re excited. Anytime we can recover a baby, from all information we received now, healthy and well, and the guy responsible for it is locked up, it’s a great day,” said Sheriff Grady Judd.

Rebecca went missing Saturday morning from her Lakeland, Florida home. Authorities say Hogs was a former friend of Lewis’ family. There has been no word yet on his motive.

His family told police Hogs suffers from bipolar disorder.
