Klamath Falls Sheriff’s Deputy ruled not at fault in fatal crash

0502 Klamath County Sheriff AccidentKlamath Falls, Ore. — A state police report says a Klamath County Sheriff’s Deputy was not at fault in a fatal crash that happened last year.

The crash happened early on the morning of November 2nd of last year on Lakeshore Drive.

Police say 28-year-old Matthew Colligan was driving a stolen truck at the time of the crash.

A report obtained by the Herald and News says Colligan pulled out of a driveway with his lights off, and was hit by Deputy Derek Randall, who was trying to catch up with Colligan, and was unable to avoid the crash.

Colligan died from his injuries. An autopsy showed that Colligan had methamphetamine in his system.
