6.9 magnitude earthquake hits northern California Coast

Eureka, Cali. — At about 10:18 Sunday night, the USGS reported a 6.9 magnitude earthquake struck off the Northern California coast about 50 miles west of Eureka.

NBC 5 News received calls into the newsroom from people feeling the quake in Merlin, Grants Pass, even Mount Shasta.

They say they felt shaking for about 15 seconds.

NBC 5 News also spoke with people in Crescent City and Eureka, who said they felt a strong shaking but they reported no damage.

As of 11:21 pm PST, there are no reports of any tsunami warning or watches.
