Teachers vote on contract

Medford, Ore.– Two weeks after coming to a tentative agreement, Medford teachers officially approved their new contract Friday.

After going on strike for 16 days and numerous negotiations with the school district, teachers said they agreed on a three year contract.

They also said the battle for what they call a fair contract was to keep what was already there.

“Pretty much the only thing we have gained now is a two and a half cost of living raise and then some equity and stability in our special ed case load,” said teacher, Lisa North.

The Medford School Board also has to approved the new contract. That’s expected to happen Monday night.
