Triple ‘A’ says 3 out of every 10 Americans are traveling 50 miles or more over the holiday season…and some of those travelers are making the journey by train.
Christine Daniken of Rocky Point was one of many on hand at the Klamath Falls Amtrak Station this morning to pick up her son…
“His wife went to Sacramento, and he came up here to be with me.”
Sally Marshall is heading north to be with her family…
“Well, I’m headed to Salem, Oregon on Amtrak – and my kids would rather I take the train than drive.”
Daniel Hernandez is making a ‘pickup’, and a ‘delivery’…
“I have a very good friend that’s going to Portland, and I have my mother-in-law that will be coming from Southern California.”
The train was right on time…and small dramas unfolded as loved ones arrived home for Christmas…and others began their journeys to join loved ones.
And as Amtrak headed north filled with holiday travelers…Christine Daniken is happy her son is home for Christmas…
“Yes, I am.”
Triple ‘A’ says over 94 million Americans will be making some sort of holiday trip, with over 90% traveling by car.
This is the fifth year in a row that holiday travel is on the rise.
