Another Northwest Marshal-Involved Shooting

NBC 5 has learned of another U.S. marshal-involved shooting here in the northwest– this time involving 26 year old Michael Jenkins.

He was shot and killed yesterday afternoon in Mount Vernon, Washington.

U.S. marshals were attempting to arrest the man, when he opened fire on them.

Jenkins was wanted on a second-degree assault warrant. An autopsy is scheduled for Sunday.

No U.S. marshals were hurt in the incident.

This shooting comes right on the heels of a similar incident here in Southern Oregon.

20 year old Jimmy Georgeson was also shot and killed by us marshals in January.

Officials say Georgeson didn’t shoot at the marshals– instead, they say he used his vehicle as a weapon.

A grand jury recently determined the marshals were justified in that shooting.

An investigation into yesterday’s Washington state shooting will continue today.
