Ashland Police working to pair addicts with treatment

Ashland, Ore. — The Ashland Police Department is partnering with OnTrack to place addicts in proper treatment programs.

Beginning March 1st anyone struggling with substance abuse problems can reach out the department, then they’ll work to get them into appropriate treatment.

“Heroin is a very real epidemic here in the United States,” Chief Tighe O’Mara said. “We have to look at other possibilities and other avenues of addressing this problem and this is one pretty simple shift we can do.”

The department’s drug amnesty program is also up and running, meaning anyone with illegal drugs can turn the substances into the police department with no questions asked.
