Baby wipes recalled nationwide for potential bacteria

McElhattan, Pa. — (KGW) Nutek, the maker of several different baby wipe brands, has issued a voluntary nationwide recall due to possible bacteria contamination.

All lot numbers of the following wipe brands made by Nutek are included in the recall:

Cuties

Diapers.com

Femtex

Fred’s

Kidgets

Member’s Mark

Simply Right

Sunny Smiles

Tender Touch

Well beginnings

The wipes were sold at Diapers.com, Family Dollar, Fred’s, Sam’s Club, Walgreens and other retailers.

“After receiving a small number of complaints of odor and discoloration, Nutek conducted microbial testing that showed the presence of a bacteria, called Burkholderia cepacia, in some of these products,” a company spokesperson said.

The company issued a recall on October 3 for lots that had tested positive for the bacteria. After that, Nutek received reports of respiratory issues, rash, irritation, infections, fever and gastro-intestinal issues.
