Bullet-proof death in South Carolina

S.C. — (WYFF) A 25-year-old South Carolina man who put on a bullet-proof vest and asked to be shot was killed Wednesday morning.

18-year-old Taylor Ann Kelly was arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter. A second person has been charged in the death, 25-year-old Timothy Fisher was arrested on Thursday and has been charged with involuntary manslaughter.

Anderson County Deputy Coroner Don McCown said Blake Randall Wardell was hanging around with some other people in a garage when he put on a bullet-proof vest they had found.

Wardell asked his friend, Taylor Ann Kelly, of Anderson to shoot him. She fired, and the shot from the small caliber weapon went above the Kevlar of the vest and into Wardell’s heart, killing him, McCown said.
