Callahan’s Lodge selling for over $5,000,000

Ashland, Ore.– For nearly two decades, Callahan’s Restaurant and Lodge sat at the base of Mt.Ashland. But just as time brings new chapters for people, it also brings new chapters for business.

“I’ll be 80 here in a couple of months. It’s time for us to pass it on to somebody else to pick it up and carry this wonderful tradition,” said owner, Ronald Bergquist.

Since 1996 owners Ronald and Donna Bergquist said they’ve done their best to keep the 19-room lodge a place of comfort for tourists and locals alike. But it hasn’t been without trials.

In 2006 a fire burned the lodge to the ground and Ronald built it back up.

“That’s why we built it the way we did to honor the memories that people have. Up to five generations.”

And this year, a historic season on Mt. Ashlandwith too little snow, the slopes never opened.

Business at Callahan’s was down 30%.

“You have to always anticipate reverses and certainly this was one of the biggest and most unexpected,” said Bergquist.

The Berquists said by now they’ve made up their losses. But last week they put the lodge up for sale, listing for over $5,000,000.

Bergquist said he hopes someone will buy itand continue the Callahan’s tradition.
