Celebrating nature with Shady Cove’s Festival on the Rogue

SHADY COVE, Ore. – Families were having a blast on the Rogue River Sunday at Shady Cove’s Festival on the Rogue.

Organizers said the event focuses on the upper rogue watershed’s natural wonders and recreational opportunities.

It featured educational demonstrations by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. Local fishing clubs were also there teaching kids how to fly fish. Festivalgoers also had the chance to take a free raft trip down the rogue river.

“We are promoting the river today, trying to get people to come out and offer free trips so they can see what the Rogue is all about. A lot of people who live in Medford have never tried this before so we’re trying to promote it and get people out there it’s the best thing to do on a hot summer day,” said Rogue River Guide, Ann Scott.

Scott said this festival is a great way for people to get out in nature and experience the rogue river. And a great reason for people to visit Shady Cove and experience all that the city has to offer.
