Crops In The Heat All Comes Down To Location

If you ventured outside or watched the weather forecast lately, you know that summer 2013 is in full swing.

Forecasters with National Weather Service say that this year has been record setting.

There’s been 5 days above 100 degrees so far this season. Last year the first 100 degree day wasn’t until sometime in August. And the summer before there was not one.

But it’s not just the heat that’s making records.

In the 100 year’s thatofficials have been keeping records of weather in Medford, 2012 is the driestdate.

At Dancin Vineyards in Medford those weather conditions are speeding up the wine making process, putting the grapes three weeks ahead of schedule.

The sunprovides sugar nutrients to the grape, which could potentially make the end result of a wine sweeter, which could be good or bad depending on the varietal.

But in the end it all comes down to the location of where the plant is growing.
