Dad suprises kids with return home

Three students from Minnesota got a surprise they will never forget Monday morning.

Their dad, serving in Kuwait with the Minnesota National Guard, came home early to surprise them.

When the Monday morning blues roll around and the kids just won’t get out of bed, send in the fire chief.

Sandra Araujo won a ride to school in a fire truck at a recent PTA carnival, her kids had no idea.

Tommie, Gabriel and Lupe happily traded in their bikes for a ride to Pine Hill elementary, where another surprise was waiting.

Chief warrant officer Gabriel Timp has dreamed of this day for a year, he’s been in Kuwait serving with the Minnesota Army National Guard, but his heart was always here.

His kids counted every day he’s been gone, but this day is the one they’ll remember the most.

Together they’ve endured five tours and this will be the last, he’s retiring from the arm, giving him more time to make breakfast, go fishing and be a dad.

His military mission may have ended, but the daddy duties at home have just begun.
