Dogs for the Deaf hosts 24th annual dog walk

Jacksonville, Ore. — It was all about our four legged friends at Jacksonville Elementary School today. “Dogs for the Deaf”, a non-profit that trains dogs for people with hearing and vision disabilities hosted their 24th annual dog walk. Several vendors and 200 dogs were out enjoying the day and raising money for the organization that’s based in Central Point and helps people all over the nation. Organizers say the event gets better every year.

“It used to be at Hawthorne Park and they would just walk to Bear Creek and back. Now they have a poker run, the top prize was 500 dollars for the best hand and now they have 50-50 drawings. It’s just a lot more energy and and excitement and you can feel it,” said Hayley Jo Burns.

The theme this year was Rockin’ Rover, Elsa won the best costume with her 50’s diner attire.
