Dogs For the Deaf has placed a companion with a Medford woman who has been waiting for two years. Elease Hunter has been deaf for over six years. In 2013, she applied for a dog through the Central Point non-profit. On Saturday, she welcomed Peaches into her home.
Peaches will help Hunter with a number of daily tasks, from remembering to take medications, to alerting Hunter to someone at the door.
“She could save my life,” Hunter said. “If there was a fire, she could alert me to the smoke detector, and she’s already getting the door.”
