Omar’s in Ashland wins Iron Chef Oregon

Ashland, Ore. — One of Ashlands oldest restaurants is successfully bringing culinary recognition to southern Oregon!

Omars head chef and co-owner James Williams, along with his son and Sous Chef, Skylar Golden, competed for top chef at the Iron Chef Oregon competition in Portland.

At 19 Williams started washing dishes at Omars and since then, he’s climbed the ranks earning him international and local recognition as a culinary master.

James Williams said, Really glad that we can finally bring this title back down to southern Oregon and really showcase the talent we do have in this area and what we actually an up-and-coming food community we do have down here.”

The effects of the win have already hit the small restaurant, closing out with a full house Tuesday night.
