Flipped Car

A frightening scene in eagle point this afternoon. A woman airlifted to rogue valley medical center after getting pinned inside her car after it flips off east antelope road.

Tense moments shortly before 1:00 in the afternoon on Sunday when firefighters worked to pry a trapped a 19 year old woman out of her car.

“A witness said they did see the car flipping through the air. It appears as though the car’s roof was caved in on the drivers side, firefighters had to cut her out of the vehicle,” said Eric Hofstad.

Investigators say the 19 year old drove off east antelope road in eagle point and careened into this grassy area.

“She was bending down to pick up a CD, she might not have been paying attention, drove off the road.”

There was also a passenger in the car, a young woman, 17 years old.

“Passenger also stated that the driver was not wearing her seatbelt, the passenger was wearing her seatbelt, passenger is now walking away with very minor injuries at this point.”

As for the driver…

“She was taken by ambulance down the road and air-lifted to RVMC.The driver, especially not wearing her seatbelt is very lucky to be alive, seeing the damage to the car.”

Tonight, names have not yet been released and the condition of the driver is unknown, though deputies on scene tell us they believe the driver’s injuries are non-life threatening.
