Former Jackson Co. Sheriff’s Captain cleared in misconduct investigation

Medford, Ore. — A former Jackson County Sheriff’s Captain has been cleared in a misconduct investigation.

NBC5 News first told you that the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training opened a pair of cases against Captain Monty Holloway in May, who retired that same month from three decades in law enforcement.

Jackson County Sheriff Corey Falls, Monty Holloways former boss, says his now retired captain did have a PI Certification while working for his office, but says Holloway didn’t actively take cases during his time at JCSO and was therefore cleared by both him and Jackson County Counsel of any ethics or protocol violations.

Sheriff Falls did confirm though that he asked Holloway to remove photos of himself in his captains uniform from his personal PI website while he worked for the county.

Holloway spoke to us over the phone in May.

Holloway, If I believed for a second there was any wrongdoing with the webpage, which I pulled, then it wouldn’t have happened.

But that month the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training or DPSST, opened two cases on Holloway, one in the private investigators section and another in the criminal justice section.

They tell us it was because of information they received and won’t explain further because it’s not public record.

But NBC5 News has now confirmed that Holloway has been cleared in both cases.

A DPSST spokeswoman did however tell us that Holloway was sent a letter of education, telling him not to wear his uniform while advertising his private investigating firm.
