Former Oregon youth pastor sentenced to 33 years in prison for raping young teen

Salem, Ore. — A former Oregon youth pastor will spend more than 33 years in prison convicted of raping a girl under 16-years-old.

According to the Statesman Journal, Peter James Bass pleaded guilty to five counts of first degree rape.

Bass was a former youth pastor at the Brooks Assembly of God Church, located just north of Salem.

The Statesmen Journal said the pastor didn’t want to put the victim through the trauma of a trial.

Bass was sentenced to 33 years and 4 months.

He will also have more than 46 years of post-prison supervision.
