Former Standford University swimmer facing five rape charges

Santa Clara, Calif. — In California, the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office has filed five rape charges against a former high-ranked swimmer for Stanford University.

For 19-year-old freshman swim star Brock Turner, the charges are serious and the repercussions swift. A university spokesperson confirmed the freshman dis-enrolled from school after being arrested and charged with raping a woman who passed out at a campus party.

Turner is out on bail, but banned from campus.

Two students on bicycles reported seeing Turner on top of a woman in a grassy area behind student residences. They say she appeared to be unconscious.

He took off when he saw them, but they chased Turner down and called campus police.

Turner was the top-ranked recruit among college-bound swimmers in the state of Ohio last year.
