Freeway closes following crash

As crews worked to reconstruct the crash scene, Interstate 5 came to a standstill. Two vehicles left crushed in the southbound lanes of I-5, following an early morning fatal crash. Southbound lanes from Ashland to Medford were shutdown. The ripple effect of the crash extending to hundreds of Rogue Valley commuters, many of whom didn’t even know what happened. “I don’t know what happened on the freeway,” says

Resers truck driver Dick Mulder. He was caught in the snarl extending from Ashland to Medford.

“It’s bad. It’s a mess,” said Mulder. Hundreds of people ran late to work. Those we spoke with about 45 minutes to an hour behind.

Phoenix gas station attendant, Jacob Braun worked during the night when the crash occurred. He didn’t see it happen, but tell us he spent the morning helping many patrons figure out a route home: “A lot of people coming from Portland, Washington have been trying to figure out how to get home,” said Braun.

Hour after hour, the parade of big rigs and trucks squeezed between passenger vehicles just kept coming. The freeway closures forcing them to detour to the highway. The unfortunate aftermath, of an already horrific event.
