Grass fire quickly spreads to trailer in Eagle Point

FIRE BIGHAM BROWN RD PICEagle Point, Ore. — Windy conditions quickly spread a grass fire to nearby structures, sending firefighters rushing to an Eagle Point property on Saturday.

NBC5 News was first on scene, as fire trucks arrived on the the 300 block of Bigham Brown road.

Just before 2:30, Jackson County Fire District Three and ODF were called out for a grass fire in the area.

When they arrived they found the blaze had spread to a nearby trailer.

“Any type of wind and grass fire, we’re concerned about how fast the spread is going to be, and where it’s going, and that was probably some of the significance of it getting close to some of the structures here,” Battalion Chief Myron Harvey said.

Crews were able to quickly stop the flames from spreading. There were no injuries reported. Bigham Brown road was closed to traffic for a short time, it is now back open.
