Hundreds enjoy ‘Oregon Honey Festival’

HONEYFESTIVALASHLAND, ORE. —  Hundreds of people got a bit of a sweet treat in Ashland Saturday. The second annual Oregon Honey Festival took place at the Ashland Spring Hotel.

The festival and conference celebrates all things honey and reminds everyone about the importance bees play in the world.

“They are very important pollinators and important for our food security. Even for our functional ecosystem because there are so many things in the wild that are dependent on bees for the transfer of pollen.” explained Dr. Ramesh Sagili.

“My hope is for the festival will get bigger and we will have venue involved. And turn Ashland into a real Bee City USA,” said Sharon Schmidt, the volunteer director of Cascade Girl.

There were also opportunities to listen to speakers. Along with tasting a variety of different honeys and other products from more than 25 different vendors.
