Huson investigation far from cold

Medford, Ore. — It was two years ago Monday that beloved Rogue Valley taxi cab driver, Huey Huson, was brutally murdered.

And while no suspect has been caught, investigators say the case is still far from cold.

It was October 20th, 2012, when Huson, picked up a passenger at Howie’s on Front in downtown Medford.

He told dispatchers he was heading toward Villas Road and was not heard from after that.

His cab was found hours later abandoned near 9th and Almond.

Huson’s body was eventually found, dumped in a field north of the Medford airport, off of Villas Rd.

Detective Tony Young with the Medford Police Department says clues still come in.

“Additional information still comes in, we still are talking to people and evidence is being tested,” Young said.

He would not go into detail about what new evidence they have found but admits as time goes by it’s tougher to find clues.

“We are relying on physical evidence at this point,” he said.

In hopes of finding a break in the case, the department monitors other homicide investigations to see if there are anysimilarities. There were some between Huson’s death and the death of Christopher MacCallum, nearly a month later.

Both were killed on their birthdays and bodies dumped in remote areas.

But Det. Young says nothing broke through.

While it’s proven tough to break the case, Det. Young says it is one of the top priorities at the department.

“I don’t want people to think we aren’t working this case but it’s the opposite, every day we work this case.”

Police say they have a description of a possible suspect.

They are described as a white male, between 25 and 35 years old, about 6 foot in height and weighing between 170 and 190 pounds.
