Inaugural ‘Strike out Suicide’

MEDFORD, ORE. —  Local bowlers came together Sunday to strike out suicide.

Dozens of bowlers played at Lava Lanes in Medford for the inaugural event.

It’s aimed as a fundraiser to raise awareness for the community and also support those who have lost loved ones to suicide.

Organizer Brittany Bonini-Gilchrist, lost her husband to suicide last year.

“We’re trying to just kind of have it become a community. Not that we want to be part of this club, but we are apart of it. So, having that support is a lot better than trying to do it on your own,” Bonini-Gilchrist explained.

Organizers hope the event will continue every year.

The money raised, goes towards suicide prevention groups and Winterspring, a local bereavement group.
