An unexpected gift brightens a young autistic boys day, but will also help improve his life and help him to learn to communicate.
Thursday afternoon North Medford High School senior, Alesha Major, presented little Brayden Lary and his mother with an iPad as part of her senior project.
The iPad being one of the most effective tools in helping kids with autism.
Alesha spent the last few months shadowing Brayden’s speech therapist and interacting with Brayden.
During Brayden’s speech therapy he plays with an iPad to help him learn words and communicate through pictures.
Aubrey Lary, Brayden’s mother says “Part of his autism is that he doesn’t talk and eventually we’re gonna teach him to use the speech program on the iPad where he’ll choose picture cards and then the picture cards will talk for him and that’s how he’ll be able to communicate.”
Now that Brayden has his very own iPad, he can learn and improve even while not in therapy.
