Kids left in car at bar

Apopka, Fl. — (WESH) Police in Apopka, Florida say a woman changed her story several times when faced with witness reports that she left her two young children in an SUV while she drank at a bar Sunday afternoon.

According to police, the bar’s general manager and four others reported seeing King drinking at the bar. At first, police said, April King denied being inside Frogger’s; however, she eventually admitted to going inside to place a to-go order.

The responding officer reported King’s behavior as lethargic, saying she spoke with slurred speech and that her eyes appeared heavy.

During the officer’s interaction with King, he said, the woman shut off her vehicle and then turned it back on. Because it was equipped with an interlock device, the system began to sound. According to the report, King began to blow into the machine but then quickly shut off the vehicle. Then she turned the vehicle on again.

“April spent a considerable amount of time avoiding blowing, and … (April’s 4-year-old son) could be seen blowing into the device,” the report said.
