Klamath Falls Biomass Debate

The plant would burn wood waste that’s now being burned in the woods in slash piles.

Bob Jones, President of Klamath Falls Bioenergy said “It’s an uncontrolled burn. with our facility, we’d be taking that wood debris, that wood waste, and eliminating 98.6 percent of all particulate emissions.”

Bob Nieman, a Biomass Siting Opponent, said “That’s going to make 172 trips a day – more truck pollution to bring it into town, to burn it next to people instead of burning it somewhere else.”

A crowd of about 120 attended a public hearing at OIT Tuesday night to discuss the plant siting.
