A Klamath Falls man is behind bars tonight, accused of sexually abusing a young girl over a period of seven years…
50 year old Ronny Alan Rykbost was arraigned this afternoon on 48 counts of measure 11 sex crimes.
Sergeant Bob Fenner of the Oregon State Police says the victim was under the age of 12 when the alleged abuse began in 2000, and continued for seven years.
“It’s a female victim, who’s now an adult, who was related to him at the time.”
Rykbost was arrested Thursday following a two month long investigation by State Police.
“The victim came forward to our detectives.” Notes Sergeant Fenner. “Our detectives interviewed the victim, and that’s what started the investigation.”
Police say they found suspected child pornography after a search warrant was served at Rykbost’s home.
“We did seize some digital media.” Stated Fenner. “And we looked at some of that digital media, and we found some videos on there that appear to have children involved in sexually explicit conduct.”
Sergeant Fenner adds that none of the images appear to be of the victim who came forward.
Rykbost could face additional charges as the investigation continues.
Rykbost’s bail is set at one million dollars. He could face a 25 year minimum sentence if convicted on a single count of sodomy or unlawful sexual penetration. He’s been charged with a dozen counts each of first-degree sexual abuse, first-degree sodomy, unlawful sexual penetration, and encouraging child sexual abuse…all class ‘A’ felonies.
