Klamath Falls standoff ends in arrest of armed suspects

Klamath Falls, Ore. – The Klamath County Sheriff says deputies are ‘fortunate’ to have avoided a shoot-out with armed suspects Friday night.

A car that police say eluded them in a high-speed pursuit Thursday night was found Friday evening at a Klamath Falls motel.

Klamath County Sheriff Frank Skrah says he’d received information that 24 year old suspect Kenneth Bragg was in room 10 of the Klamath Travel Inn, and was heavily armed…

“Supposedly Bragg had body armor, and that he was alleging that he was going to shoot it out with the cops.”

Skrah says Bragg and 23 year old Chynna Kent failed to come out after verbal warnings, and even after tear gas was fired into the room.

Skrah says police then entered the room by force…

“Using 4 (12 gauge) rounds, breached the door – in other words, blew the hinges and the lock off of the door.”

Bragg surrendered, and Kent was captured in the bathroom.

Skrah says both were heavily armed…

“And fortunately, knock on wood, nobody got hurt.”

Bragg and Kent are both facing multiple felony charges including theft, assault, attempting to elude, felon in possession of a firearm, and drug possession.
