Local Candidates on the Ballot this Morning

As the may 15th elections are drawing nearer– we’re getting a better idea of who could represent Jackson county as the new Commissioner.

5 PM last night marked the last day to get your name on the ballot.

There are 7 candidates up for election hoping to grab the seat as Commissioner.

The election winner will replace Commissioner C.W. Smith, who is not seeking re-election.

Republican state Senator Jason Atkinson has announced that he won’t seek another term in the Legislature, but says he is not ruling out running for another office in the future.

Atkinson, of Central Point, represented the 2nd district for the past 14 years.

He tells the paper that he wants to spend time with his family.

In Klamath County– the may primary ballot picture is now in sharper focus.

The Klamath County clerk reports that last minute filers made for a busy day.

There are now 5 candidates running for the Commissioner position now held by Al Switzer.

4 candidates challenging incumbent Commissioner Cheryl Hukill.

There are a total of 8 men running for the position of Klamath County Sheriff.

3 for the position of Klamath County Treasurer.
