Local experts host drought awareness meeting

Medford, Ore. — Dozens met at the Medford Library Wednesday for an open forum on how to deal with the drought when it gets worse this summer.

Eric Dittmer, SOU Professor of Environmental Studies and other experts from federal, state and local agencies addressed the public, answered questions, and urged people to conserve water now, not later.

Dittmer said “The impact on water users is sever enough that we would like people to be aware of the problem and make an extra effort to conserve water sooner rather than later.”

The City of Ashland is anticipating having to implement a mandatory water curtailment plan but city officials say they are conserving water now- by not planting any trees or shrubs.
