Local firefighters honor 9/11 victims

MEDFORD, ORE. — 343 firefighters lost their lives on September 11, 2001. And still 14 years later, nearly 100 firefighters gather to honor their fallen brothers and sisters.

The firefighters from agencies across Southern Oregon, climbed to the rooftop of the ten story Rogue Valley Manor on Friday, symbolizing the heroes who ran into the Twin Towers in New York City when everyone else was running out.

On the top, there were moments of reflection. An American flag was also passed around and emotions from 14 years ago come back to life.

Firefighters say not a day goes by, that they don’t stop to think. But on this anniversary of the worst terrorist attack on us soil, the bond between firefighters and first-responders, shows through.
