Locals join nationwide Planned Parenthood protests

Medford, Ore. — Nearly 200 people in joined a nationwide protest against Planned Parenthood in downtown Medford Saturday morning.

The protests spoke against abortion and government funding for the organization.

Planned Parenthood came under fire after several videos released by the anti-abortion group the Center for Medical Progress. The sometimes heavily-edited videos show Planned Parenthood and other officials talking about the harvesting of organs from aborted fetuses. The anti-abortion group claims the videos show that Planned Parenthood sells tissues and organs for profit.Such sales would be against federal law.

“The reality of what Planned Parenthood does behind the scenes has been made available for everyone to see and it’s outrage that our tax money is being used to kill these babies. Then for Planned Parenthood to turn around and literally turn the babies’ bodies into a commodity and sell it for a profit,” said Jackson County Right to Life Chairman Bryan Platt.

Planned Parenthood says it didn’t break any laws and is accusing the anti-abortion group of pushing an extreme political agenda.
