Man arrested in home burglary

GRANTS PASS, ORE. — A 28 year old man is in jail after allegedly breaking into a Grants Pass Apartment Friday night.

The Grants Pass Department of Public Safety says just before 11pm, they received reports that Shawn Eugene Philip forcefully broke into an apartment on the 800 block of NW 6th St.

The vicim and an infant were able to escape as the suspect began damaging property, according to police.

The victim was able to call 911 from a neighboring apartment.

When police arrived, they say Philip refused to come out, and they used a K9 to apprehend him.

Philip was taken to Three Rivers Medical Center for non-lifethreatning injures, as well as a mental health evaluation.

He was then taken to the Josephine County Jail on charges of Burglary I, Assault on a Public Safety Officer, Criminal Mischief II, Resisting Arrest, and FTA Theft warrant.
