Keeping prescription drugs off the streets and out of the wrong hands.

That’s what police intwo Southern Oregon communities were hoping to do for today’s national prescription drug take-back.

both Medford and Grants Pass police collected expired, unused prescription drugs.

Organizers say drug take back programs are the safest way to dispose of medication.

“That way no one can get ahold of the drug illegally. It happens quite a bit. a lot of people steal controlled substances and medications, it can fall under the same category as cocaine, heroine, and meth.”

If you missed today’s event, the Medford Police Department has a permanent drug take-back box inside the lobby of City Hall.

It’s open to the public 7 days a week.
