Medford Police Could Receive Grant With Catch

The Medford Police Department is being offered new federal funding… but it would come strings attached.

The $375,000 grant is being awarded by theUS Department of Community Policing Services, or C.O.P.S.

If the department accepts the offer, the money must be used to hire more three more officers within three years and the department must partially match the grant.

MPD has 90 days to accept or decline the funding.

We’re told discussions between the department and the city will begin in the coming weeks.
