Meford woman dies in motorcycle accident

JACKSON COUNTY, ORE. — Investigators say a Medford woman died after a motorcycle accident Sunday afternoon in rural Jackson County.

The accident happened around 12:50 Sunday afternoon on Highway 140 near milepost 27.

Investigators say Tamara Alter of Medford was driving her motorcycle around a curve and lost control. She then fell down a steep, rocky embankment, while her motorcycle continued to skid.

Alter was pronounced dead on scene.

Investigators say she was wearing a helmet and neither speed nor alcohol seem to have played a factor.
