California officials surround a home in Modesto after a man opens fire fatally shooting a deputy.
Stanislaus County Sheriff’s officials say Deputy Robert Paris was killed when gunfire broke out around 11am Thursday.
The 53 year-old Paris was a 16-year veteran of the department.
Officials say he is survived by his parents, a brother and two adult children.
The name of the second person killed in the shooting has not yet been released and just moments before we hit the air Thursday night that house was on fire with the suspect believed to still be inside.
