Alex Holley is trying to cope with shocking news.

“He was a great person, outstanding, really though,” said Holley.

His friend, dead, just moments after Holley loaned him his motorcycle.

“He took it out and I just heard him tear down the road, it kind of sounded like he was missing gears and stuff, kind of made me worried…next thing we heard were ambulances,” Holley recalled.

Paramedics arrived just after 11 o’clock Sunday morning to find the motorcycle driver lying unresponsive in the middle of Beebe and Gebhard Road in Central Point.

“From the information we have so far he was going at a high rate of speed and going into the corner lost control and that’s where the accident occurred,” said Lieutenant David Croft with the Central Point Police Department.

Central Point Police said as the motorcycle driver was traveling west on Beebe Road, a black truck was rounding the corner from Gebhard. Investigators said that’s when the two collided.

“The driver of the motorcycle, when he went of off his bike, went into the other lane striking the truck,” said Lt. Croft.

NBC 5 learned the name of the man killed but are waiting for his family to be notified.

Witnesses at the scene said the motorcycle driver was responding when bystanders tried to help.

“I hoped he was going to be fine because his eyes were like responding and it was one of those where you think he’s going to be fine,” said Linda Welburn, the woman who called 911.

Nearby residents said people frequently speed down Beebe Road and what makes it even more dangerous is the sharp curve at the end of the road.

“You gotta slow down, you gotta be careful,” said Lt. Croft.

Friends told NBC 5 the man is leaving behind his girlfriend who is pregnant with his child.
