Northern California man speaks out against Purina brand dog food

Happy Camp, Ore. — A Northern California man is lending his voice to the lawsuit that’s gaining steam against pet food company Purina.

Michael Garnett sent NBC5 News video of his two dogs. He lives in Happy Camp, California. Garnett posted the video on social media and it’s gone viral. He said it’s been viewed more than a million times and shared more than 40,000 times.

According to Garnett, a week and a half ago he fed his dogs Purina Beneful treats and almost immediately they had a bad reaction to it.

“Within 15 minutes we started to see that they were going into a coma like state and they were completely disoriented, wobbling around, couldn’t stand on their own,” said Garnett.

This comes on the heels of a lawsuit in California alleging thousands of dogs have gotten sick or died after eating the brand’s dry dog food.

The suit says there are toxins in the Beneful kibble.

Purina maintains the food is safe.
