Klamath Falls, Ore. –Continued dry conditions have Oregon Forestry officials bracing for, what could be, a bad fire season.
The Oregon Department of Forestry has been monitoring conditions closely east of the cascades. The next month will play a critical role as to when fire season will begin.
Typically, we’re trying to start a fire season right around the first of June. We’ve been in as early as May 10th or so, been in as late at mid-June,” said Dennis Lee from ODF.
Fuel conditions, temperature and humidity, and small fire behavior are factors that will be used in declaring a start to fire season.
